QilingUAV_Advantages of UAV power line inspection .Typical applications of power line inspection UAV

Compared with the traditional power inspection method, the UAV power inspection line can easily implement operations between the mountainous forests and old forests, rivers and lakes, which are more difficult to operate. Gradually achieved a precision effect comparable to that of professional cameras. Those damaged parts of the line that are difficult to find manually can be clearly judged through aerial inspection of the drone. Today we will take a look at the advantages of power line patrol drones and their typical applications.

1. Not restricted by terrain environment, high efficiency. The traditional manual electric power line patrol method is limited by the environmental terrain and has low efficiency. Usually a drone patrols a line in 15 minutes to complete the task of one hour of manpower, especially in steep terrain, the advantages of drones are more obvious.

2. Ensure personnel safety. Traditional artificial line inspection usually faces the danger of being attacked by wild animals and insects, and even in emergency situations such as flash floods and earthquake disasters, it even endangers life and safety. UAVs can investigate and urgently investigate the potential dangers of the line, such as the collapse of a tower foundation, without being affected by road conditions.

3. Low cost and high accuracy. Compared with helicopter line inspection, in addition to cost and personnel advantages, UAVs can carry visible observation, infrared thermal imaging, and ultraviolet imaging equipment to carry out all-round observation of the line. Drones can also perform fixed-point hovering for more detailed inspections of lines. Drones with a built-in GPS positioning and navigation system can also avoid the risk of disappearance and minimize the risk.

The drone is lightweight and equipped with an advanced aerial survey system. Compared with manned aircraft and helicopters, the cost is low, and it is much more convenient. Generally, only two staff members can complete the task. It can remotely shoot and monitor the transmission line, metal fittings, insulators and towers for corrosion and pollution, line corridors, etc., and obtain image data of transmission lines in all directions instead of manual climbing Inspection.

Application of UAV power line inspection:

Application one:

Small cameras and cameras are fixed in the pod of the aircraft, and the wires and insulator strings are photographed. Just one person controls the plane, and you can watch the video tape when you return. However, due to aircraft jitter and inaccurate camera focus, although obvious phenomena such as collapsed towers, tilts, broken lines, broken insulators, and trees hitting lines can be quickly analyzed and identified.

Application two:

The method of using unmanned aircraft to patrol the line is to use the unmanned aircraft control data link to transmit the signals of the visible and infrared cameras that can be transmitted remotely to the monitoring ground screen for analysis. Unmanned aerial vehicle patrols are conducted by two people, one full-time to control the aircraft and one to monitor the ground screen. Suspicious sections can be hovered or checked back and forth; real-time surveillance and video recording can be performed simultaneously, and high-definition cameras can be performed. After the plane flies back, it can perform picture analysis.

If you are using visible light for video, you should do it when the weather is bright; if you use an infrared camera, you should better identify the heating point of the line before sunrise in the morning, after sunset in the evening, and when it is not raining on a cloudy day. Generally, it is best to fly along the wire above the side of the wire during aircraft patrol. The plane and the sun should be on the same side of the wire to avoid backlighting; the lens axis should be at an angle to the horizontal plane and less than 100m from the wire. The orientation of the lens (usually auto-focusing) is usually fixed in advance on the ground and will not change during flight. If changes are needed, it is achieved by changing the flight path of the aircraft. If a very complex gyro stabilization system platform is equipped on a moving aircraft, automatic aiming can be achieved, imaging can be performed once, and then the transmission line can be accurately analyzed.

Application three:

Adopt flight control functions such as autonomous line satellite navigation control, geographic matching automatic control, line pole tower automatic tracking, etc. People and planes are close to the power transmission line for close line inspection work.

With the vigorous promotion of unmanned aerial vehicle patrol lines, a line operation and maintenance model focusing on "machine-based patrols and supplemented by human patrols" is being fully formed. To continuously adapt to future developments, UAV patrol lines also need to be combined with other technologies.
